SMS messages from mobile phones are limited to 140 characters. See: Wikipedia's article on SMS messages.
Messages added to peqipedia via Twitter and Identi.ca are also limited to 140 characters but these have to include:
- "@peqi" so that the peqibot can identify messages aimed at peqipedia
- a space
- the page title
- the "=" separator (that shows where the title finishes and the "article" begins)
- the "article" itself.
Therefore the maximum length of a peqipedia article added via Twitter or Identica (including the headline) is actually only 137 characters.
